Age Divisions:

Open to all boys in the the Downingtown Area School District born between 9/1/2001 and 8/31/2011

As of June 2017 meeting, the CCLA Board of Directors voted to adopt the new US Lacrosse youth age brackets beginning with the Spring 2018 season.

Accordingly, the sole determinant of the Spring 2018 CCLA travel division a boy will play in is his AGE ON AUGUST 31, 2017.

·       If he is 8 or 9 on that day, he is in the “10U” division

·       If he is 10 or 11 on that day, he is in the “12U” division

·       If he is 12 or 13 on that day, or if he is 14 and in 8th grade, he is in the “14U” division

CCLA will not entertain age exception requests for 15 year olds.

At each club’s discretion, it is acceptable for a boy to “play up.”

CCLA does not allow boys to “play down” in travel divisions.

At the November 2017 CCLA Board Meeting, new "10F" and "10S" subdivisions were adopted for the "10 & under" age division.

This was done in an effort to better serve the needs of those young players, and is consistent with the recent developmental recommendations put forth by U.S. Lacrosse.

10F players will play full 10 v. 10 games (10-minute stop-time quarters) on a full regulation lacrosse field.  These games will generally be scheduled on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays, as they have been in the past.

10S players will play 7 v. 7 short games (round robin tournament style ... two 20-minute running time halves ... each team will play 3 back-to-back games) on a short field.  These "mini-tournaments" will take place on selected Sunday afternoons from 1pm-4pm.  We expect that these events will be scheduled on 7 Sundays between April 8-June 3; each participating 10S team can choose how many they wish to participate in.
