PARENT/GUARDIAN

 I/We pledge to provide positive support, care, and encouragement for my child/children participating in youth sports.

 I/We will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice or other youth sport event.

 I/We will place the emotional and physical well being of my child/children ahead of my personal desire to win.

 I/We will insist that my child/children play in a safe and healthy environment.

 I/We will support coaches and officials working with my child/children, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

 I/We will demand a sports environment for my child/children that is free from drugs, tobacco and alcohol and will refrain from their use at all LYA sports events.

 I/We will remember that the game is for youths – not adults.

 I/We will do my very best to make LYA youth sports fun for my child/children.

 I/We will instruct my child/children to treat other players, coaches, fans, and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.

 I/We will help my child/children enjoy the LYA youth sports experience by doing whatever I/We can, such as being a respectful fan, assisting with coaching, or providing transportation.

 I/We will inform friends and relatives of this code of ethics when they are in attendance to any LYA practice, game or event.

COACH/ASSISTANT COACH

 I will place the emotional and physical well being of my players ahead of personal desire to win.

 I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.

 I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.

 I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.

 I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players.

 I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that I coach, and will teach these rules to my players.

 I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for all of the skills that I teach.

 I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, and that the game is for the children and not the adults.

COMMISSIONER

 I will provide positive support to all LYA youth sports programs in the community, to administer youth sports programs with   professionalism and in the best interests of children involved.

 I will ensure that I am knowledgeable in the youth sports administration.

 I will do my best to provide playing situation for all participants.

 I will provide support for coaches, officials and parents to provide a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

 I promise to keep informed about current issues involving LYA youth sports programs.
