2019 Boys Spring Lacrosse

Registration:

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION: January 1-January 15.  Early Bird Registration reduces the cost by $25.  

REGULAR REGISTRATION: January 16-25.  Some age divisions may close registration sooner or go to waitlist status based on number of registered players.  

All Players must live in Downingtown Area School District

LYA Lacrosse is part of the Chester County Lacrosse Association (CCLA).  Players in the 12U and 14U divisions will have both home and away league games on week days.

Teams Participating in the Chester County Lacrosse Association (CCLA): Avon Grove, Brandywine, Coatesville, Collegeville, Coventry, Great Valley, Kennett, Lionville, Oxford, Unionville, Wilmington, and West Chester.

Divisions:  Players are grouped by age and skill level.  Please check your child’s division below.

*Please note, players may not play up or down an age division.  

14U

  • Players must live in Downingtown Area School District

  • Players 12 or 13 years old on August 31, 2018

  • Players 14 years old in 8th grade are eligible

  • No ninth grade players are eligible, regardless of age

  • Players will be evaluated for “A” and “B” level

  • Players can expect 1-2 practices per week and 1-2 games per week

  • Practice days and times will vary based on coach and field availability

  • Games begin on 3/31/19

  • This is a competitive level, there are post season playoffs for teams that qualify

  •  Early bird registration $180

12U

  • Players must live in Downingtown Area School District

  • Players 10 or 11 years old on August 31, 2018

  • Players will be evaluated for “A” ,“B” and “C”  level

  • Players can expect 1-2 practices per week and 1-2 games per week

  • Practice days and times will vary based on coach and field availability

  • Games begin on 3/31/19

  • This is a competitive level, there are post season playoffs for teams that qualify

  • Early bird registration $180

 

10U

  • Players must live in Downingtown Area School District

  • Players 8 or 9 years old on August 31, 2018

  • Players will be evaluated for  “A” and “B” level

  • Players can expect 1-2 practices per week

  • Practice days and times will vary based on coach and field availability

  • Games begin on 3/31/19

  • This is not a competitive level, there are no post season playoffs

  • Players will play 7 v. 7 games (round robin tournament style ... two 20-minute running time halves ... each team will play 3 back-to-back games) on a short field.  These "mini-tournaments" will take place on Saturday mornings from 8am-11am or Sunday afternoons from 1-3. 

  • Early registration $150

8U

  • Players must live in Downingtown Area School District

  • Players 6 or 7 years old on August 31, 2018

  • Players can expect 1-2 practices per week

  • Practices typically fall on Wednesday and Sunday (early afternoon)

  • Games are round robin style with multiple teams called playdays

  • Playdays are typically on Sunday, there are 3-4 during the spring

  • If a playday is cancelled due to weather, it will not be rescheduled

  • Early Registration $99

6U

  • Players 6 and under on August 31, 2018 will be integrated into the 8U program

  • If possible, we will schedule an additional playday for 6U players

 

Required Equipment:

Helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, lacrosse stick, mouthpiece, athletic supporter and protective cup.

Evaluations:

Players are evaluated and placed on teams according to skill level and experience.  

Evaluations will tentatively take place February 8, 9 and 10.  Call backs/team specific evaluations will take place February 22, 23 and 24.
